[Food] Chae Seon Dang (Korean Shabu-Shabu Restaurant)

Shabu-shabu in Korea here definitely taste slightly a little bit different than how I used to have it back in Indonesia. In Indonesia you can have options of spicy and non spicy soup, but here most of them, they give you the non spicy one, unless you go to a Chinese Restaurant to have the shabu-shabu. I went to a place called Chae Seon Dang, you can see several of these chain restaurants everywhere in Seoul.
They sell their menu in a set for 1 servings, but you will have to order at least 2 servings for each type of menu you'd like to try. Otherwise you can just choose the most basic menu then add the additional stuff you'd love to have, whether it's a rice paper, or additional vegetable, or additional beef or pork. After you put in your order, you can go to a so-called self corner to choose the sauce and vegetable you'd like to have.
Not much of variety on the vegetable, you can take either the left one or the right one. And for the sauce I choose these two. Though I prefer the red one to the brown one, the red one taste a little bit of spicy while the brown one a little bit sweet and sour.
You won't have to wait too long before the shabu-shabu pot is being served in front of you...
They also give you this kimchi, but I'm not a fan of kimchi while having the shabu-shabu. So I don't even touch it even after I finish up everything. =)
While, for the things you get for the menu (I choose a beef set) is a little bit of beef. I think it's around 160g per servings, if I remembered it correctly.
And lots of vegetables... =)

and rice papers. So rice paper is something looking like this...
You put it in a warm water prepared by the restaurants.
Wait for a little while, take it out, spread it on your place then put in everything you'd love to eat, a little bit of meat and vegetables then wrapped it up like this.
Dip it into the sauce of your choice and eat it. Yummy~  kekeke~
While boiling it up for the second round, I put in the noodles inside as well.
And, the last step will be.... TADA~!
This is what unique about Korean Shabu-Shabu. Here's where you'll have to pour out the soup and leave a little of it. Put in these 2 bowls inside of the shabu-shabu pot then keep mix it with the laddle they give you and you'll get a porridge. =)

[Plastic Surgery] Angle + Zygoma Surgery

First of all I would like to thank you this patient who willingly sharing her story with all of us without being sponsored. Thanks to Dr. Kang who is super patient during her surgery day and recovery time, which makes her feel really satisfied with us and even opening up to us first and give us suggestion to post up her surgery journey. =)

She reached in the morning and went to our hospital as soon as she arrived Korea, having the consultation with us and then directly decided to do the surgery on the same day. Well, since she’s coming well prepared for the surgery, so she doesn’t seem to even hesitate about the surgery at all. We went to the nearest general doctor to have a general check up, and we also run a blood test and wait for like 3 hours before the check up result finally came out. Since the result of the general check up turns out super good, we began to prepare for the surgery.

The problem on this patient’s face is her high cheek bone and a square jaw angle. Therefore you can see our surgeon marked her cheek bone and her lower jaw, meaning she’s going to have a zygoma reduction and a long curve square jaw reduction for the surgery today. Our surgeon also mentioning about genioplasty / chin surgery to give her a perfect transformation, but since she decided not to do the chin surgery therefore the surgery today will only be zygoma and square jaw surgery. =)
After 2.5 hours inside of the surgery, she’s finally being pulled out and moved into the recovery room for the day. She has to put on the oxygen mask for at least 1~2 hours, or might be longer for some with slower recovery, after a general anesthesia to fill up the oxygen back in her lungs. If you’re someone with a super fit condition, or if you’re a healthy person who love to exercise, this part of recovery won’t be too hard to deal with. You won’t even feel nauseous, the only thing is you feel sleepy and you feel like you’re having a sore throat. This is because that we’re putting a respiratory tube through your throat during the whole procedure.

But if you’re someone who don’t love to exercise and is not healthy enough, this part of recovery might feel like hell. lolz. You will keep feeling nauseous, and some of you might even keep throwing up for hours. Therefore, what I learn by seeing patients going through recovery after general anesthesia is living a healthy life, and exercising regularly definitely is important as it can make such a big different. And since this patient, she has a super healthy lifestyle and of course love to do exercise, she feel really convenient and comfortable during this recovery. At around 7 pm the doctor will do a final check up before he move her up to the 4th Floor where she’ll be hospitalized for the night.
Before continuing with the story about the patient above, here’s the bone which is being took out from her cheek bone and jaw angle. Though it’s not being classified as an extra huge or serious case, but you can see that the jaw angle bone being taken out is slightly longer compare to most of the case.

And, the next day after her surgery, we give her a can of healthy drinks, some sort of cereal? After she finish it up, we moved her to the 3rd floor where she’ll be having her treatment of the day.
Can you see that her lips and both of her cheek is swollen? And she’s holding a blood pocket in her hands, which normally being put after square jaw surgery / chin surgery if you have quite a lot of bleeding, but it doesn’t always mean a bad thing to put those on you. It can help you to take out the clotted blood inside your surgery area as well. Therefore having it for 1 night doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad. =D
Now the nurse is helping her taking off the tape while waiting for Dr. Kang to come and give her the treatment.
TADA~! And here’s Dr. Kang, explaining on the surgery and current situation of the patient. Whether she has a serious swelling or not, and what she’s going to expect next after during the recovery process. And after a simple explanation of the current situation, he will help you to take out the blood pocket. It feels slightly sting here, but all of the people can endure it even without any kind of anesthesia.
After taking out everything, the doctor will check out on your stitches condition inside your mouth, help you to clean it up and give you some precautions on what to do and what not to do for the first week of the surgery. As this is when you will have to be very careful in taking care of your wound inside, to prevent it from infection.

The patient will have to go back and check on the doctor on the 3rd day, normally it’s just to make sure that the stitches is healing properly without any infection. =) And then you’ll have to go back to our hospital again on the 7th day after the surgery, again just to check on the stitches condition. Last but not least, you’ll also get an RF treatment from us to help your swelling to goes down faster. Normally this type of swelling treatment will be more effective for facial contouring case and / or liposuction case.

Just lay down, close your eyes, and we will give you a massage here and there for 15~20 minutes. Some people would say that it feel a little bit… just a little bit of pain when you do it for the first time (it might be due to you still have some serious swelling and your stitches hasn’t close up really well yet), but when you came back for the second time and so on, you won’t feel a thing, instead it will make you feel super comfortable that most of the patient fell asleep during the session.

And now, the picture below is the picture of the patient on the 2.5 months after her surgery, you can see that the facial shape is getting better but of course with some minor swelling left, meaning her facial shape will become even more delicate and perfect after few months later. Normally you will have to wait for at least 3~6 months (some might even take up to 1 year) for you to see the final result of a facial contouring surgery.

We will update more on her progress on the 6th month after her surgery, so be sure to keep following us on this blog~ =)

[Food] Seong Min Lamb Skewers

This restaurant has always been popular in my neighborhood and just extended to another location nearby as their current place is being bombarded by customer. The business hour runs from 5 pm up to 5 am. And I was surprised when I found this place empty when I get inside the restaurant...
But within count of minutes, the place is full of customers. lolz. Meaning I was lucky to arrive just in time and don't have to queue up for the food. =)
They sell various stuff, most of them related to lamb meat. I ordered a serving of lamb skewers and a serving of lamb chop, which cost KRW 11,000 and KRW 13,000 respectively. I could say that the price of the lamb chop is not that expensice, as I've tried to eat in a place near Seoul Station where it cost KRW 18,000 for a serving of lamb chop.
The lamb skewers I ordered come out first. 1 serving consists of 10 pieces of lamb skewers. And the unique thing about this is that the grill can move automatically, so just put the skewers there and it'll cook by itself without having you to turn the side back and front, since the thing moves like this... (o_O")
It doesn't take too long before the lamb skewers is all cooked and ready to be eaten. You can leave it there for slightly a little bit longer if you prefer a crispy lamb skewer.
Pick one, put it on a plate and then sprinkles some chili powder on top of it, just like this.
The chili powder doesn't taste too strong, at least not for me. So you might want to sprinkle a whole lot of it if you're a fan of spicy food, just be careful not to take too much of it, as it taste kind of salty at the same time. While having a taste of my skewer, the boss take out the second menu I ordered which is lamb chop. Yeahh~! (="o"=)v
It also doesn't took too long before this raw meat turn into a delicious-looking meat. Smell nice and look nice.
I took out one, cut it into pieces like this, so I can chew the bone slowly after I finish up the meat. ^^
The meat is chewy and juicy. Since they cut it thick, it taste really good as you can feel the meat juice coming out and filling up your mouth when you take down the meat bite by bite. Oohh~! The best part is yet to come, since I closed today dinner with a mango apple yuzu bingsu from Toms n Toms~~ <3 <3

[Food] Noodles Mania

I loved to eat noodles when I lived in either Singapore or Indonesia. I love the Fish Ball Noodle and Hokkian Mee the most, which can be found everywhere around the hawker center in Singapore.

And not to forget Prawn Noodle located in the hawker center near Little India MRT Station, don't know whether they still have it or not, since it's been few years back the last time I ate it.
While in Indonesia, we have the unbeatable INDOMIE GORENG~~ which can be made into either fried or soup version. =)

But in South Korea here, you don't really have that much of option, p.s. I'm talking about like a real Korean style noodle here. Either you mix it with your food like when you're eating Marinated Chicken Galbi, or you buy an instant noodle and cook it at home, since their instant noodle actually taste quite decent. While in most of restaurant that sells handmade noodle, my favorite option will be either Chicken Noodle Soup or Clam Noodle Soup. The place where I went to they only have 3 options to choose from which are Clam Noodle Soup, Red Bean Noodle Soup (EW...!), and Bean Curd Noodle Soup.
The place is not that spacious but well you still can fit in and sit conveniently since there's not much of people inside. I bet they're more popular with delivery services? Since I heard a lot of delivery call coming in when I was inside. I tried both Clam Noodle Soup and Soy Bean Noodle Soup, not in a same day of course, otherwise my stomach might blow up. =P I'll start with a more common menu, the Clam Noodle Soup.
The auntie always give me quite an amount of the clams when I had my lunch here, it's like 1.5 times more than what I have in the picture. Is it because there's not much left of the ingredient so she just give me this much? T.T What's good about Korean Noodle Soup is, it's not too salty. Nothing much to comment on this one, since it tastes good and lovely. I even finish up every of the clam inside the noodle.
And here comes the other one. I was reluctant to try out this menu at first. It was like I always known soybean as a healthy drink back there in my country and no one ever tell me that the healthy drink can be served as Noodle Soup and it's served cold.
It doesn't taste good, but it doesn't taste that bad either. For me, it's just weird... Well, from what I heard, there are 2 ways of how Korean people will eat this kind of noodle. They way they eat this noodle is being divided based on where they came from. Gyeongsang-Do's people love to put in salt into this soybean Noodle, while Jeolla-Do's people prefer sugar in their Soybean Noodle. I wonder that's why they always prepare both sugar and salt on the table in a restaurant where they sell this type of noodle. For me, I prefer a healthy and refreshing soybean milk to soybean noodle. =)

[Food] Daljan

Daljan literally means a moon cup. But if you try to search for the same thing through search engine, I noticed that there's really a so-called moon cup, which I though is a very unique shape of cup to use. Too bad that I can't drink alcohols and stuff, but trying to drink with this kind of cup would definitely be a very cute thing to do. lolz.
Cute right? How it can make a moon cycle (do I use a right word here?)~ And the logo of this restaurant itself also consists of moon and cup.
And they put some spaces between one table to another, so you won't be bothered even when the next table is speaking in a slightly loud voice. Though you still can hear them if they talk with a super duper loud voice though. They also put this kind of decoration so that you won't be able to see who sit next to you clearly.
And the seat that I really would like to try out once in a while, well, maybe next time, since coming in groups will make it really inconvenient to sit in this kind of area. You have to sit down properly and nicely and when you stand up you've to look out for your head since the ceiling is a little bit low. I wonder that's why there's no one who's willing to sit over there even though there's a plenty of this type of seating inside this restaurant.
The second thing is that make sure you come to this place after you eat your dinner or at least eat something before you come here. The menu is a little bit expensive which makes you unable to order much. Me and my friends choose to order the what so called 미친새우 (meaning crazy shrimp). They give you these kind of side dishes for you to eat while waiting for the order to be ready.
And here's how crazy the shrimp looks like... =)

There's a sweet mayonnaise sauce on the left and tar-tar sauce on the right. I tried for both sauce, but prefer to eat the shrimp with the sweet mayonnaise instead of the tar-tar sauce. And the crunch is super crunchy which is good. And they put a quite big deal of shrimp inside as well, the proof is here...
